Nigerian comedian Emmanuel Ejekwu, better known as Sabinus, has shared that his father did not initially approve of his journey into comedy.
Speaking in an interview with VJ Adams, Sabinus explained that his father hoped he would pursue a career in law. After several attempts to gain admission into a law program failed, he decided to study Linguistics and Communication Studies instead.
He said that his interest in comedy began while he was a student at the University of Port Harcourt, where he started creating skits.
According to him, his father was disappointed when he eventually discovered his involvement in comedy, expressing regret over sponsoring his education and referring to the craft as a “stupid business.”
Sabinus said, “At first, my dad never wanted me to be what I am today, he wanted me to be a lawyer. I tried my best but I couldn’t secure a law admission. So, I had to settle for Linguistics and Communication Studies at Uniport.
