Big Brother Naija stars Tacha Akide and Mercy Eke appear to be moving past their long-standing rivalry.
Tacha surprised fans by publicly celebrating Mercy on her birthday, sparking conversations about reconciliation and maturity between the former ‘Pepper Dem’ housemates.
On Mercy Eke’s special day, Tacha left a warm message in her comment section, calling her “gorgeous” and encouraging her to “stay winning.” The gesture caught many by surprise, considering the history of tension and social media shade between the two reality stars.
Fans quickly praised Tacha for her thoughtful words and commended both women for showing growth and maturity.
Mercy and Tacha’s relationship has previously been marked by subtle digs and social media spats. In 2023, Tacha appeared to shade Mercy after she showcased her new Range Rover, tweeting, “But is she me?” The comment fueled further speculation about their rivalry.
That same year, following Ilebaye’s victory in the All Stars season, Tacha seemed to question whether Mercy would have won her season without Tacha’s disqualification. Actress Iheme Nancy later defended Mercy, pointing out that she had received more votes and rightfully earned her win.
Their past clashes often reminded fans of the heated ‘Pepper Dem’ fight that led to Tacha’s disqualification and Mercy’s ultimate victory.
Despite their previous fallout, the duo reconciled in 2022 during a joint interview with Toke Makinwa, where they discussed the fan-fuelled feud. Both stars acknowledged that they didn’t owe the public any manufactured rivalry and highlighted how social media amplified conflicts between them.
Their truce was further strengthened during an Instagram Live session with fellow reality star Khloe Abiri, where they shut down rumours of lingering animosity.
Tacha’s recent birthday message to Mercy has reignited discussions about their personal growth, with many fans hoping the era of hostility between them is truly behind them.
