Heartland forward, Joel Okoro, has promised the club supporters to expect more from the team this season.
The Naze Millionaires recorded their first win of the new season, a 2-1 victory over Edel FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Saturday.
Murphy Ndukwu scored the curtain raiser for the hosts, while Okoro netted the second.
Obi Emmanuel was on target for Edel FC.
Okoro said that the players were anxious despite the victory.
“We had to adjust after losing our defensive midfielder to injury in the first 15 minutes. It disrupted our rhythm a bit, but we picked up again. They are young players, and they gave their best,” Okoro reacted to the club’s media.
“We were anxious from the start because of the loss in Ogbomosho. We wanted to score many goals to make up for that defeat, but the tension affected our finishing. Scoring early was part of the game plan—it was our first home game, and we needed to show our fans that we are capable.
“Our supporters should expect more from us. With God’s help, we will keep improving and won’t let our performance drop.”
