NPFL Review: Remo Stars record matchday 11 only away win, Insurance still unbeaten

Daniel Ogunmodede’s Remo Stars recorded the only away win on matchday 11 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The Sky Blue did it in one of the most hostile venues in the NPFL, the El-Kanemi Stadium, Maiduguri.

The Ikenne club defeated their hosts 2-1 to improve their chances of making the Super Six.

Andy Okpe and captain Junior Irabor were on target for Remo Stars in the game.

Ogunmodede’s side moved from fifth to second position on the Group A table following the win.

Bendel Insurance dropped points for the third time at home this season but preserved their unbeaten run.

The Benin Arsenals were held to a 1-1 draw by Akwa United.

Imade Osehenkhoe scored the curtain raiser as early as the second minute.

Akwa United withstood further pressure from the hosts and got the leveller through Cyril Olisema on 34 minutes.

In Ibadan, Shooting Stars boosted their survival hopes with a thrilling 3-2 win over Plateau United.

Eight-time champions Enyimba dropped points at home after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Nasarawa United.

Sunshine Stars missed the chance to move up the table in Group B following a 1-1 home draw against newcomers Doma United.
