Three suspects have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for vandalism of oil pipeline, oil theft and illegal dealings in petroleum products at Umuowaga Umuelechi Obuzo Asa in Ukwa West LGA in Abia State.

Spokesperson of the command, ASC II Doreen Udugwu, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, February 10, 2025, said the successful arrest was enhanced through actionable intelligence, which prompted the Anti-Vandal Patrol team of the Command to swiftly respond.

According to him, substantial quantities of petroleum products were discovered during the operation.

”The suspects were identified as: Oscar Eteobong (M) Aged 37 from Abak LGA, Issac Aniete Edemba Udoh (M) Aged 40 from Obot Akara LGA both in Akwa Ibom State and Emmanuel Uzoma Sunday (M) Aged20 from Isiala-Ngwa North LGA in Abia State were arrested by the NSCDC team,” the statement read.

“The Abia State Commandant, Akinsola Aderemi has hinted that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in this criminal enterprise channeled towards sabotaging the nation’s economy.

Commandant Akinsola further reaffirmed the commitment of the Corps to rooting out criminal elements from Abia State and beyond.

“He warned all criminal elements operating within the state to desist from illegal activities or face the full wrath of the law.

“He also called upon the public to collaborate with NSCDC by providing credible intelligence that will help in apprehending criminals.”
