The Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA) has condemned the brutal m8rder of a Nigerian man, Emeka Clement Uzor.

LIB reported that Uzor was shot d3ad at about 3 pm on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at a Caltex filling station in Windsor East, Randburg, Johannesburg.

The incident occurred during an anti-drug operation involving a political party, ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni Mayoral candidate, Councillor Xolani Khumalo.

In a statement on Monday, the union’s President, Mr Smart Nwobi, and National Publicity Secretary, Mr Akindele Olunloyo, said the deceased, who hailed from Nkerefi in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, was attacked while inside his vehicle.

The union described the incident as part of a worrying pattern of violence against Nigerian nationals in South Africa.

It called on the South African authorities, including the Minister of Police and the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the k!lling and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

“The Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA) grieves the brutal and senseless murder of Mr. Emeka Clement Uzor, a Nigerian national, who was fatally shot on Sunday, 8th February 2026, at a Carltex garage in Windsor East, Randburg, Johannesburg,” the statement read.

“Mr. Uzor, from Nkerefi, Enugu State, was mercilessly executed with over 12 bullets while seated in his vehicle. This heinous act endangered innocent lives with stray bullets damaging nearby cars.

“NUSA condemns in the strongest terms this barbaric assault and the irresponsible media statements attempting to justify such violence, particularly those made by Mr. Xolani Khumalo, who was present during the incident.

“We call on the South African authorities — especially the Minister of Police and the National Commissioner of Police — to conduct a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation, ensuring all perpetrators face the full force of the law.

“This tragic event is a stark reminder of the recurring violence against Nigerian nationals in South Africa. We urge the Nigerian government, through diplomatic offices, to engage actively with South African counterparts to safeguard our community.

“To all Nigerians living in South Africa, NUSA advises calm and peaceful conduct while we work tirelessly with relevant authorities to seek justice and closure for the family and friends of Mr. Uzor.

“On behalf of all Nigerians in South Africa, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May the Almighty grant them strength during this devastating time. ”
