Victor Osimhen has set his sights on winning the top scorer’s gong in the UEFA Champions League this season, NEWSUNPLUG reports.
The Nigeria international fired a hat-trick in Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory over Ajax at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday night.
Osimhen is now currently the leading scorer in the competition this season with six goals from three games.
The 26-year-old international is ahead of the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe on the chart.
No Nigerian or Galatasaray player has ever achieved the feat.
Osimhen is, however, confident he can win the individual prize with the help of his teammates.
“Of course, I think I have the quality to do so, but I do it with the support of my teammates. They love giving me the ball, just like they did today,” Osimhen told Galatasaray’s official website.
“It’s a team effort, and I believe that with my teammates and their support, such a possibility is definitely possible. I will fight for it.”
