Victor Osimhen’s friend and teammate, Mauro Icardi is expected to leave Galatasaray, with his representatives already testing the waters for a possible return to Serie A ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Sportmediaset, via CalcioMercato, Icardi has been proposed to AC Milan, Como and Roma.

Contract situation and Istanbul future

The former Inter captain joined Galatasaray during the 2022/23 season, initially on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, before signing a deal that runs until June 2026.

Despite the length of his contract, the current campaign is increasingly viewed as his final one in Istanbul, with a January departure now a realistic possibility.

Reduced role amid rising competition

Although Icardi has returned from a knee injury, his status within the squad has weakened.

The arrival of Victor Osimhen, the presence of Leroy Sané, and Galatasaray’s plans to sign another striker in January, with Ademola Lookman still high on their shortlist, have significantly limited his opportunities.

This season, the Argentine has featured in 21 matches across competitions but logged just 800 minutes, starting only six times.

Even so, he has remained efficient in front of goal, scoring eight times in the Turkish Super Lig.

Spain also an option

Interest is not limited to Italy. Argentine outlet Mitre Live reports that Icardi is also considering a move to La Liga, with Elche and Real Oviedo tracking his situation.

The report adds that Spain is appealing for personal reasons, with both clubs offering the possibility of living in Madrid.
