Nigerian disc jockey and activist DJ Switch has criticized First Lady Remi Tinubu over her recent advice encouraging Nigerian women to consider starting small businesses such as selling akara and kuli-kuli.
Reacting in an Instagram post, DJ Switch argued that while many countries are investing in infrastructure and creating opportunities to develop their citizens, Nigerians were instead being encouraged to venture into petty businesses.
In her words:
“With absolutely no due respect Remi! Thunder fire you! While other nations are creating spaces and infrastructure to develop their people for this rapidly technologically advancing world, you want us to sell kuli kuli? And the otondo’s behind you are nodding their greedy necks! I can’t express how much I despise you people.”
Her remarks have since sparked fresh debate online, with social media users expressing mixed reactions to both the First Lady’s comments and DJ Switch’s response.
@MosesCoker2: “I don’t know why God is delaying my prayer point on this politicians.”
