Petrol importation increased by 3.29% in 2023

The importation of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) reportedly increased by 3.29% in the First Half of 2023.

The National Bureau of Statistics in its “First Half 2023 Petroleum Products Report,” noted that petrol increased from 11.56 billion litres in the first half of 2022 to 11.94 billion litres in the first half of 2023.

The report read;

“In terms of imported products, 11.94 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were imported in the first half of 2023 relative to 11.56 billion litres in the corresponding period of 2022, showing an increase of 3.29%.”

The Bureau also said there was a 5.8% decline in the PMS petrol trucked out in the country in the First Half of 2023. The volume reduced from 12.19 billion litres in the corresponding quarter of 2022 to 11.48 billion litres in FH 2023.

It read;

“In the first half of 2023, PMS truck out stood at 11.48 billion litres, indicating a 5.83% decrease when compared to 12.19 billion litres recorded in the first half of 2022.”
