The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Jafar Mohammed, for attempted s3xual assault on three girls aged between 6 and 7, in Kontangora Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 said the suspect allegedly lured the victims to an uncompleted building in the Dadin-Kowa area of Kontagora under the pretense of giving them candy.
“On February 11, 2026 at about 10:am, one Jafar Mohammed also known as Danlami, 40yrs of Sabon-gari K’gora was arrested by Police operatives of Kontangora Area Command for attempted s3xual assault on three young girls of ages 6-7yrs, at an uncompleted building located at Dadin-kowa area of K’gora,” the statement read.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect lured the girls, enticing them with candy and during the attempt, one of the victims raised alarm which attracted neighbours and he was arrested.
“The suspect was later handed over to the Police and transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation.
In another development, police arrested a 27-year-old laundry man, Faisal Ibrahim, for stealing a motorcycle in Suleja.
“On 2nd February, 2026 at about 6.45pm, a report was received from Kwamba area of Suleja which indicated that on 1st February 2026 at about 8:pm, a victim locked his Bajaj motorcycle in his room after the close of work for the day, and went to get some food” the PPRO said.
“Upon his return, he discovered that the motorcycle was taken away by an unknown person.
“He quickly reported to Maje Div and one Faisal Ibrahim, 27yrs, a laundry man in the area was arrested on strong suspicion in connection to the crime.
“During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and led detectives to where he hid the motorcycle within Kwamba.
“The suspect was later charged to court for prosecution after the investigation.”
