Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the alleged killing and secret burial of a newborn baby at Kwatam Private Hospital along Baga Road in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The development was made public on Saturday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the incident in a post on his official X handle.

According to Zagazola, the incident occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on April 18, 2025, after concerned residents raised an alarm upon witnessing individuals attempting to bury a baby within the hospital premises.

“Security operatives swiftly responded, cordoned off the area, and arrested all suspects involved in the act,” the post stated.

Forensic experts were immediately deployed to the scene and successfully exhumed the body of the newborn for examination.

The arrested suspects have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation and a full investigation into the circumstances and motive behind the act.
