The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a man, Kunle Ogunnusi, for allegedly beating and inflicting serious injury on his 4-year-old child in Ado Ekiti.

The spokesperson of the command, Sunday Abutu, who disclosed in a statement on Thursday, August 15, 2024, said that the man’s arrest followed a credible tip-off on Wednesday.

“The suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and said that his action was out of provocation over his son’s misbehaviour,” the statement read.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspect is always in the habit of abusing his child by b£ating him with dangerous objects and inflicting injuries on him at any slight provocation

“On July 14,2024 at about 1pm, the Command received a credible tip-off that a man was beating and inflicting serious injuries on his four-year-old child.

“Operatives from Oke-lla Divisional Police Headquarters, Ado Ekiti immediately swung into action, moved to the scene and arrested the suspect who was met in the act.

The PPRO said that the suspect would be charged in court for the act.

“The Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale, while noting that the suspect will be arraigned accordingly, implores residents to promptly report to the police any form of abuse especially on children and other criminal activities observed within their environs for immediate attention,” Abutu added.
