The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a notorious thug and armed robber, Yakubu Mohammed Auwal aka “World Boy” in connection with series of violent robberies in Bauchi metropolis.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on March 12, 2026 said “World Boy” was notorious for Sara-Suka thuggery.

According to the PPRO, operatives of the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters arrested the 22-year-old suspect on March 8, 2026, after responding to a distress call.

The suspect was said to have st@bbed a resident, one Shamsuddeen of Anguwan Sarakuna, in the lap before robbing him of a Tecno POP 5 phone.

Police investigations further linked Auwal to another attack on a woman, Ijeoma Neonye, on March 7, during which they st@bbed her and made away with her phones.

The suspect also st@bbed one Usama Abdullahi, on the left shoulder and took his Tecno POP 5 phone.

“The operatives of ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Bauchi, acted on a distress call on 8th March, 2026 at about 1150hrs and arrested Yakubu Mohammed Auwal aka “World Boy” (22), male of Magaji Quarters, Bauchi, while he was robbing Shamsuddeen (surname withheld) of Anguwan Sarakuna of a Techno POP 5 phone (N20,000) after st@bbing him in the lap,” the statement read

“Investigations link the same suspect with Bala Mohammed aka “Balagus.” On 7th March, 2026 at about 1300hrs, the pair, armed with knives, attacked Ijeoma Neonye ‘f’ at Magaji Quarters, st@bbed her and stole an Infinix Smart 7 Plus (N120,000), N280,000 cash, a Rolex chain wristwatch (N35,000) and other valuables.

“Earlier, on 22nd February, 2026 at about 1400hrs, “World Boy” and an accomplice known as Amir (now at large) attacked Usama Abdullahi, st@bbed him on the left shoulder and took a Tecno POP 5 phone (N70,000). Bala Balagus has been arrested; Amir remains at large.

“Prior to these offences, “World Boy” was notorious for Sara-Suka thuggery in Magaji Quarters, Anguwan Sarakuna and Rafin Makaranta, with multiple violent clashes.

“He was arrested, prosecuted and convicted in 2024 without option of fine, but later reappeared in the community and resumed atrocities.”

Exhibits recovered include two sharp knives, one scissors and a Tecno POP 5 phone which belongs to the first victim.

“In a separate report, on 8th March, 2026 at about 1600hrs, Magdalene Pius ‘f’ (24) of Gwallameji reported to ‘E’ Division Yalwa, Bauchi that on the 7th March, 2026 at about 0630hrs Usama Salihu ‘m’ (21) of the same address threatened her with a knife and robbed her of an Infinix Smart 9 (N125,000) and an Itel keypad phone (N15,000),” the statement read.
