The Niger State Police Command has arrested a notorious suspected child kidnapper, Aminu Ahmed, in Kontagora.
The spokesperson of the command, Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, December 15, 2025 said the suspect abducted three children in Kontagora and collected over N2m ransom from their families before releasing them.
According to the PPRO, the suspect was arrested on November 27, 2025 at about 7pm, by police operatives of the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Special Tactical Squad (STS) following technical intelligence received about the abduction of the children.
In the course of investigation, the suspect revealed that within January 2025, he took a boy of about 3yrs around Samaru, Kontagora which he abducted for four days and traveled with the boy to Lagos.
He confessed that during his journey, he contacted the father of the victim and requested for ten million-naira ransom, and he later received N1.4m through different POS points before returning the boy to a location around a radio station in Kotangora as a missing and found child, while he escaped.
“In continuation of his escapades, he abducted another boy of 4yrs in May within Kotangora, took him to Lagos and stayed for three days. He also contacted the family of the victim and requested for another ten million naira ransom. He later received five hundred thousand naira. He returned and dropped the boy at a location within Mashegu LGA, and informed the parents where to pick up the victim,” the statement read.
“In November, he picked a 3-year-old boy in GRA Kotangora, took him to Ilorin, Kwara State where he stayed for three days and contacted the father. He requested for five million naira and later received three hundred and fifty thousand naira.
“He dropped the victim in Kaboji, Mashegu LGA. He further claimed that he was duped, of over N1.8m proceeds of crime, during a business of mining investment he did. The suspect is under further investigation.”
