The police in Lagos state have arrested a 69-year-old commercial bus driver, Waidi Saheed, for allegedly crushing a 10-year-old, simply identified as Chukwudi, to death at the Iganmu-Mile 2 Expressway in the state on Sunday, March 3.
According to police sources, the father of the victim identified as Bernard reported that while he was going to church with his children, a commercial bus ran into them while they stood on a curvet at Doyin bus stop. He said the commercial bus smashed Chukwudi’s skull, causing him to die instantly. The police immediately moved to the scene of the incident.
While attempting to evacuate the body of the child, the police were attacked by some miscreants in the area. The gallant officers however repelled them and afterwards moved the body to the morgue at the Yaba General Hospital.
The suspect was arrested and his bus impounded.
