Operatives of the Cross River State Police Command have rescued a 25-year-old woman, Faith ‘Mercury’ Edu, who was abducted by a notorious kingpin, Michael Aboko, also known as “father,”

Edu was rescued by the command’s Anti Kidnapping Squad about midnight on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Edem Street Off Garden Street in Calabar South after she raised an alarm on Facebook that she was kidnapped.

It was gathered that Edu was abducted on January 21, 2025, by Aboko, who is on the run, and spent a week being brutalized until her rescue.

She was reportedly rescued in a frail state and is currently receiving medical attention while the police are on a manhunt for the culprit.

A graduate of Banking and Finance from the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, Edu had taken to her Facebook page to raise alarm of her kidnapping.

She shared a second long video of a wire mesh and called for help, describing where she was kept. She said she was using a device used for registering sim cards to post.

“Sos I’ve been kidnapped and physically abused a at garden behind watt market am posting from a pos cause the kidnapper is asleep his name is father’ go to Atatapa police station the street opposite garden church where redeem is. ask the local to direct the police the person has been hitting me with a cutlass since 4 please contact my family on 0803$$$$$$.I can’t reply messenger so am using chrome from the post the use to defraud people please am bleeding call my mom .
