Police rescue kidnap victim tied to tree with hand chopped off in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has rescued one Abdullahi Isah Nagari, who was abducted by armed bandits in Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, January 29, 2026 said the victim was found tied to a tree with a machete cut injury on his hand.

DSP Yazid noted that the victim was taken to the General Hospital in Tsafe for medical attention.

A photo posted by family and friends revealed that Nagari lost one of his hands.

The PPRO said that the rescue operation was carried out by the police and military personnel, who were able to locate and rescue the victim after receiving a report of the abduction.

He explained that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators, and security patrols have been increased in the area to prevent further occurrences.

“On 29th January, 2026, armed bandits invaded the residence of Abdullahi Isah Nagari (M), located at the outskirts of Tsafe Town, Tsafe Local Government Area, and abducted him to an unknown destination,” the statement read.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Tsafe Division, promptly mobilized his personnel in collaboration with the Military (Operation Fansan Yamma) and launched a coordinated rescue operation.

“During a thorough search of the surrounding bushes, the victim was successfully located and rescued, having been tied to a tree with a machete cut injury on his hand.

“The victim was immediately rescued and taken to the General Hospital, Tsafe, where he is currently receiving medical attention.

“Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the perpetrators, while security patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent further occurrences.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, psc+, reassures the public of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and urges residents to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies for prompt action.”
