Former Al-Nassr player Shaye Sharahili said that Cristiano Ronaldo tried joining Ramadan fast and went without food for two days during last year but failed to continue.

The 41-year-old has been playing for the Saudi giants since January 2023, after joining as a free agent.

In a chat with Thmanyah Sports, Sharahili said that playing football during Ramadan while fasting is tough for most players, especially foreigners, because of the changes in their daily routine.

He said that Cristiano Ronaldo tried to fast for two days last year and realized it was not something easy to do.

“Playing during Ramadan isn’t simple, but there are some players who handle it well, and I was one of them. It seems harder for foreign players because they aren’t used to it yet, and also because it’s tough for them to stick to their daily routine, which includes things like food, sleep, and other important habits.

“Cristiano Ronaldo tried fasting for two days during Ramadan, but he found it really challenging,” he said (via Kooora.com).

Cristiano Ronaldo has embraced life in Saudi Arabia enthusiastically since moving there three years ago and has been involved in various activities across the country.

Some of his Muslim teammates have said that the famous Portuguese player inspires them to stay strong in their religion.

Ronaldo’s time in Saudi Arabia has been very successful, helping the league gain a lot of attention and making the country eligible to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

The 41-year-old is still signed with the Saudi team until 2027, after he signed a new contract with Al-Nassr last summer.
