Serena Williams has hinted at a comeback to tennis 18 months after “evolving away from tennis”.
In a post on social media, the 42-year-old admitted she is “ready to hit some balls again”.
Although Serena did not confirm the 2022 US Open as her farewell event, she was given lavish tributes before each match in New York.
She then waved an emotional goodbye after losing to Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round.
Also, while promoting her investment company in October 2022, Serena insisted: “I am not retired. The chances (of a return) are very high. You can come to my house, I have a court.”
Serena is a 23-time Grand Slam champion and is considered by many the greatest of all time.
