Tensions ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico have reached fever pitch as Real Madrid players reportedly grow increasingly irritated with Barcelona’s teenage sensation, Lamine Yamal, following his inflammatory comments about the club.
According to Marca, several Real Madrid players are “fed up” with Yamal’s behaviour, accusing the 18-year-old of lacking respect and maturity.
The frustration stems from remarks he made on a Twitch livestream, where he accused Madrid of “stealing and complaining,” further fueling the fierce rivalry ahead of the La Liga showdown.
Despite his youth, Madrid’s senior figures are said to be offering no excuses for his words, believing that professionalism demands restraint, especially before a high-stakes fixture.
They steal, they complain’ — Yamal’s provocative jab
During the livestream with Barcelona legend Gerard Piqué and streamer Ibai Llanos, Yamal joined in on jokes at Madrid’s expense, saying: “They steal, they complain, and they do things…”
When pressed by Llanos, a Madrid supporter, on what he meant by “steal,” Yamal laughed and dodged the question, though the intent was clear enough to provoke outrage in Madrid camp.
History of mockery
This is not Yamal’s first run-in with Los Blancos. In May, after scoring a stunning equaliser against Madrid, the winger mocked Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘calma’ celebration before switching to Kylian Mbappe’s trademark pose, a double taunt that drew heavy criticism.
Earlier in the year, following Barcelona’s Copa del Rey triumph, their fourth win over Madrid that season, Yamal said, “This year, they simply can’t beat us. We’ve proven that. Visca Barca!”
Clash with title implications
Real Madrid, led by Xabi Alonso, sit two points clear at the top of La Liga, having lost just once all season. Barcelona, under Hansi Flick, trail closely and could leapfrog their rivals with a win at the Bernabéu.
