A member of the House of Representatives was tactically walked out of the House yesterday for alleged improper dressing.

The House rules make it incumbent on members attending plenary to wear a suit and a tie or a tradition dress with a cap to match.

The improperly dressed member, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, had walked into plenary towards the end of the day’s proceedings.

He sat on the second floor being used as an alternative chamber by members of the Green Chamber.

Raising an order, Billy Osaweru (APC, Edo) drew the attention of the House to the mode of dressing of the indicted member, saying it contravened the dress code for members of the House of Representatives.

He said,

“Mr. Speaker, our rules state the need for proper dressing while coming for plenary. Mr. Speaker, if you look upstairs, there is a member in chamber wearing a T-Shirt and a jeans trousers.”

But while Osaweru was raising the point of order, the member stood up and walked out of the chamber.

Momentarily, the Speaker said;

“Point of order complied with.”
