Germany legend, Lothar Matthaus has claimed that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are not talking to each other.
Matthaus said this while explaining that the key difference between his rivalry with late Argentina football icon Diego Maradona and that of Messi and Ronaldo is communication.
Speaking to The Times of India, Matthaus said: “Diego was the best footballer in my time. We were like Messi and Ronaldo.
“[But] they [Messi and Ronaldo] are not talking to each other. They don’t make parties together after the game.
“But Diego and I, we had many private moments, and we had parties after the game too.”
Messi and Ronaldo are widely considered two of the best players who have ever played in the sport.
The duo have won 13 Ballon d’Or awards in their career.
