Former Manchester United coach, Nicky Butt has named the club’s legend, Wayne Rooney in top 10 players of all-time.

Rooney established himself as one of England and Man United’s greatest players during his 19-year professional career.

The Englishman spent two years in the first-team of his boyhood club Everton before he joined Man United in 2004.

He scored a club-record 253 goals in 559 games for United, winning five Premier League trophies under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rooney was also England’s top scorer with 53 goals with the Three Lions until Harry Kane broke his record in March 2023.

“I don’t think he’s appreciated as much as he should be, even with United fans,” Butt said on the Football’s Greatest podcast.

“I don’t know if that’s the Liverpool-Manchester rivalry but he was phenomenal. He was a beast.

“When people say their top-10 players of all time, not a lot of people would put him in that bracket but he should be, easily.”
