Nigerian Afrobeats icon David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, at the State House in Freetown, ahead of his rescheduled beach concert tied to the ongoing AFCON 2025 celebrations.
The visit comes as part of Davido’s ongoing 5ive Alive World Tour, which has seen the award-winning artiste make notable appearances across several African countries and other parts of the world.
During the meeting, Davido expressed his strong connection to Sierra Leone, describing the country as his “second home” and thanking fans for the unwavering support he has received over the years.
He also hinted at plans beyond the forthcoming beach concert, promising an even larger performance in the future.
“Sierra Leone has always shown me incredible love. I feel very much at home here, and I’m looking forward to hosting a full stadium concert someday,” the singer said.
Reflecting on his past experience in the country, Davido recalled his 2017 performance, noting that it attracted a massive turnout.
“The last time I performed here, the crowd was over 50,000 people. It’s an experience I’ll never forget,” he added.
President Bio warmly received the Afrobeats star, stating that Davido’s presence had sparked excitement nationwide, particularly among young people and music enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the AFCON-related concert.
The President also applauded Davido’s contribution to African music and praised his role in showcasing African culture on the global stage.
