Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake (Ahmed Ololade) has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic death of a young fan during his concert at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya, on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
The victim, identified as Karen Lojore, was a 22-year-old student at Daystar University pursuing a degree in Applied Computer Science. She reportedly collapsed during a crowd crush near an entry gate as thousands of fans—both ticketed and non-ticketed—attempted to enter the venue.
Breaking his silence on Monday, December 22, Asake shared a heartfelt statement on social media mourning the loss of the young woman.
“I am devastated by the tragic incident that took place at the festival on Dec 20th in Nairobi,” Asake wrote. “My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore, and I pledge to support and do my best to understand what happened. Those responsible should be held accountable.”
He further noted that music had always been his way of “sharing love and joy” and expressed how it broke his heart that anyone had to experience such a devastating loss while attending his show.
The event organizers, Tukutane Entertainment, confirmed the “loss of life” and stated they are cooperating fully with emergency services and relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances.
However, the tragedy has sparked national outrage in Kenya, with many pointing to systemic failures in crowd management and ticket planning.
