Segun Akinlolu, popularly known as Beautiful Nubia, has publicly accused gospel musicians Yinka Ayefele and a new artiste identified as BBO of allegedly copying the melody of his original song, “Seven Lifes.”

Beautiful Nubia made the allegation in a post on X, formerly Twitter, where he claimed that Ayefele’s 2012 song, “My Faith in God (Igbagbo Ireti),” and BBO’s recent track, “Amin,” both drew their melodies from his work without permission.

“There was Yinka Ayefele with ‘My Faith in God (Igbagbo Ireti)’ in 2012 and now someone called BBO with ‘Amin’ this year. Both stole their melodies from our original song ‘Seven Lifes’,” he wrote.

Questioning what he described as a recurring problem in the industry, the singer added, “When will Nigerians, especially the so-called gospel musicians, learn to respect copyright?”

The veteran musician, widely respected for his distinct sound and storytelling rooted in culture and social themes, raised concerns about copyright infringement and respect for original creativity within the gospel music space.

His remarks have since generated conversations among music lovers, reopening debates around intellectual property rights, originality, and ethical standards in Nigeria’s music industry.

Beautiful Nubia also urged fellow artistes to be more conscious of copyright laws and to ensure that their creative works do not infringe on the intellectual property of others.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Ayefele nor BBO has publicly responded to the allegations.
