Nigerian artist Oludipe David, widely recognized by his stage name Spyro, has expressed concerns over the declining quality of contemporary music.

An advocate for music with meaningful messages, Spyro believes that the erosion of thoughtful music has played a role in society’s moral decay.

During an appearance on the Adesope Live show, he remarked, “Previously, artists conveyed important messages through their music, regardless of the genre. Today, it feels like it’s all about the vibe we’re just enjoying the rhythm without substance.”

“In as much as vibes are cool, I feel like music has lost its intrinsic value. Back then, you would get goosebumps listening to music. Vibes are cool. But how can we infused messages, values into vibes?

“A lot of the decadence that we have in the society today can be traced to the fact that music has lost its value. We are now just singing for money. A lot of us are into the business for money, not to make impact.”
