Super Eagles goalkeeper, Adebayo Adeleye has urged Nigerians and the general public to stop calling him the name of Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

The 25-year-old, who is currently in camp with the Super Eagles in Uyo, spoke ahead of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

Adeleye bears a striking resemblance to the Cameroonian shot-stopper, both in facial features and hairstyle.

“To the esteemed public, I wish to clarify a pressing matter regarding my identity. My name is Adebayo Adeleye, and I am a Nigerian goalkeeper,” Adeleye was quoted by (@OgaNlaMedia on X) as saying ahead of Nigeria’s clash with Rwanda in Uyo.

“Unfortunately, some individuals have been mistakenly referring to me as Andre Onana, the renowned Cameroonian goalkeeper.

“I kindly request that the public refrain from associating me with Andre Onana, as we are two distinct individuals with different nationalities and careers.”

Adeleye currently plays his club football for Greek Super League side, Volos.
