Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has said it is time for the team to make a big impact on the world stage.

Justine Madugu’s side are the most successful team in Africa, with 10 titles. The Super Falcons have also qualified for every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Despite their dominance in Africa, they have always struggled to compete favourably with the top teams in the world.

Ajibade claimed they want to rub shoulders with the best teams globally.

“We’re saying: ‘We don’t just want to be African champions anymore. We want to be global contenders.’ We want to make sure that we surpass the level that we hold. Because we know we have the quality and the talent,” the Paris Saint-Germain winger told FIFA.com.

The Super Falcons qualified for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a 3-1 aggregate win over Benin Republic on Tuesday.

The WAFCON 2026 will serve as the qualifiers for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Brazil.
