Nigeria’s Super Falcons have once again proven their dominance on the African stage after sealing qualification for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Nigeria will be looking to win the tournament for the 11th time after a composed performance over two legs against Benin saw them secure qualification maintaining their remarkable record of consistency in African women’s football.

Ashleigh Plumptre surged forward and fired a powerful left-footed strike from the edge of the box to open the scoring. However Benin scored the equaliser back in the 61st minute, Yasmine Djibril, one of the revelations of the qualifiers, capitalised on a defensive error to equalise with a clinical low finish

The Falcons completed the job with a 1–1 draw in Abeokuta after winning the first leg 2-0 in Cotonou, sealing their 16th consecutive qualificatio. for the continent’s premier women’s competition — a run unmatched in African football history.

The qualification marks yet another milestone in Nigeria’s proud football history. Since the inception of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, With their qualification now confirmed, the Super Falcons will once again carry the hopes of millions of Nigerians, determined to remind Africa why they remain the queens of the continent.
