Suspected robber arrested for st@bbing commercial motorcyclist and stealing his bike in Akure

Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a suspected robber for stabbing a commercial motorcyclist and stealing his bike in Akure.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday said the incident occurred on November 2, 2025 at about 8:00 p.m., when a commercial motorcyclist, Mr Elijah Omoniyi, was attacked by two passengers at Achievers Area, Sijuade, Akure.

The suspects allegedly attempted to snatch his motorcycle, during which one of them, identified as Ahmed Tijani, st@bbed the victim multiple times with a knife.

Despite his injuries, the victim raised the alarm, attracting the attention of residents who, alongside police operatives from Oda Division, swiftly responded.

Their prompt intervention led to the arrest of one Ahmed Tijani, while his accomplice managed to escape.

The victim was immediately taken to the hospital and was discharged on November 4, 2025.

The stolen motorcycle was subsequently recovered on November 5, 2025, following diligent follow-up by the police.

Commending the officers for their swift response, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, praised the gallantry of his men at the Oda Division and the cooperation of community members.

He emphasised that the partnership between the police and the public remains a vital pillar in the fight against crime

CP Lawal assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice.

The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and support security efforts with timely and credible information.
