LaLiga president Javier Tebas has made a bold and fiery statement regarding Real Madrid’s ongoing boycott against Spanish referees. The club has notably refused to participate in official events and interactions involving match officials, citing repeated controversial decisions and a lack of accountability. This stance has caused significant friction within Spanish football, and Tebas has now called for action.

Speaking at a press conference, Tebas did not mince his words, declaring that Real Madrid’s behavior undermines the integrity of the league. “This is not just a disagreement anymore; it’s a full-blown attack on the system. Real Madrid must be punished for their boycott against referees,” he said. Tebas emphasized that no club, regardless of its stature, is above the rules that govern Spanish football.

The tension between Real Madrid and the refereeing body has been building over the past two seasons, with Los Blancos regularly publishing videos and statements criticizing officiating. The club’s refusal to attend pre-match meetings and post-match discussions involving referees has become a growing concern for LaLiga’s leadership, who see it as a dangerous precedent.

Tebas has suggested that disciplinary measures could be introduced to ensure that clubs respect the roles of officials. He hinted at possible fines, sanctions, or even point deductions if Madrid continues to defy league protocols. “We cannot allow a situation where the most influential club in the country disrespects referees and expects no consequences,” he added.

This public confrontation marks another chapter in the rocky relationship between Tebas and Real Madrid. As the league prepares for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on how the club responds—and whether LaLiga follows through on its threat of punishment.

The standoff is far from over, and its outcome could have major implications for the balance of power in Spanish football.
