Teenage mother arrested over d3ath of her newborn baby in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old girl, Fatima Adamu, on suspicion of infanticide after her newborn baby was found d3ad.

It was gathered that on March 21, 2025, at about 8:00 am, Fatima, from Gamari Village, Niger Republic, gave birth to a healthy male baby.

However, shortly after hearing the baby cry, a witness, Fanna Modu of Chinguluski Village, noticed that the infant was no longer alive and suspected foul play.

A police sources said that detectives visited the scene, and an initial examination of the baby’s body revealed no visible signs of violence.

The corpse was taken to General Hospital Damasak for further medical examination to determine the cause of d3ath.

According to the source, the suspect was arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation.
