The deal, confirmed on Friday, will keep the 26-year-old at the Estádio do Dragão until the end of the season.

Porto also hold an option to make the move permanent, with the buy clause set at €8 million, plus a further €250,000 in performance-related bonuses.

Transfer details and resale clause

As part of the agreement, Nice have secured a 10 percent sell-on clause, ensuring they will benefit from any future transfer involving the striker should Porto activate the purchase option and later sell him on.

Moffi has been handed the number 29 shirt and is already familiar with his new surroundings, having featured at the Estádio do Dragão last November when Nice were beaten 3-0 by Porto in European competition.

First taste of life in Porto

The Calabar-born forward arrived in Portugal on Thursday afternoon and was present at the stadium hours later to watch his new teammates secure a 3-1 victory over Rangers, getting an early feel of the club’s atmosphere and expectations.

From Nigeria to Europe

Moffi’s European journey began at the age of 17 when he left Nigeria for England to join Buckswood Football Academy.

He later moved to Lithuania, gaining professional experience with Zalgiris Kaunas before playing for FK Riteriai, where his goal-scoring exploits began to attract wider attention.

His club form earned him a call-up to the Nigerian national team under former coach Gernot Rohr. Moffi made his Super Eagles debut in June 2021 against Cameroon and went on to enjoy a productive spell, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.

Ligue 1 impact and recent form

Moffi started the 2022/23 season in fine form, netting 12 goals in 18 matches before sealing a move to Nice.

At the French club, he maintained his output with 20 goals and six assists, including 11 goals under coach Francesco Farioli, while also playing alongside Pablo Rosario.

After returning from injury in March last year, he scored once in five appearances. This season, he has recorded three goals in 15 matches before completing his loan switch to Porto, where he will hope for a fresh run and a return to peak form.
