Debo Adebayo, the Nigerian comedian and social commentator widely known as Mr Macaroni, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the rising wave of terrorism and mass kidnappings in Nigeria.
In a post on his X account on Friday, Macaroni condemned the President’s approach to national security, pointing to the ongoing abductions of schoolchildren as evidence of “incompetence.”
He wrote: “President Tinubu, you claimed to have all the solutions to end terrorism. You said any President unable to protect the people is incompetent. Every schoolchild who has been kidnapped is a result of your failure. The blood of Nigerians lost to acts of terrorism is on your hands.”
His remarks came in the wake of an attack in Niger State, where terrorists kidnapped students and staff from St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area.
The total number of those abducted has not yet been confirmed, as the school was still finalising its records at the time of reporting.
The Kotangora Catholic Diocese in Niger State has acknowledged the incident in an official statement. Efforts to reach the Niger State Police Command were unsuccessful, with spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun unavailable for comment.
This event occurred just days after terrorists attacked a government school in Kebbi State, abducting at least 25 students.
