Apostle Arome Osayi has reacted to the ongoing conversation surrounding his earlier comments about Nigeria’s spiritual calling, marking the country’s 66th Independence Day with a message centred on prayer and hope.
The cleric had previously described Nigeria as a nation with a missionary calling, stressing the importance of prayer and the country’s perceived spiritual purpose.
His position, however, attracted criticism from activist and Ratel president Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, who publicly challenged the preacher over his remarks.
Amid the backlash, Apostle Arome did not directly address Verydarkman’s criticism. Instead, he took to Instagram on Thursday, October 1, 2026, to celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day with a prayer for the nation.
In the message, the cleric expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future and called on the country to embrace what he described as its prophetic destiny.
He wrote:
“Happy 66th birthday, O beloved Nigeria! Good morning! The long night is over! Arise, shine, and clinch your prophetic destiny in the comity of nations. For the sun of righteousness spreads His healing wings over your shores and people! The throne of the Highest is established in the midst of you, and your sons and daughters shall declare the name of the Lord to the ends of the earth. Jesus is Lord over all that concerns you! Amen!”
