Nollywood actress Jaiye Kuti, also known as Jayeola Monje, has lashed out at her colleagues in the industry for a lack of genuine love and support.
While speaking on Oyinmomo TV, she said the relationships in the industry are gradually breaking down because everyone is facing the same problems but prefers to keep quiet. She noted how everybody is just acting and pretending things are okay, even while knowing where the challenge/problem is from.

While questioning the public’s admiration for celebrities, she recalled that when she complained about her movie being removed from several cinemas, none of her colleagues stood by her or publicly supported her.
Lamenting the fake love in the industry, she pointed out that on her birthdays they’re quick to send birthday wishes, yet are silent when she needs their help.
Jaiye said that due to their lack of support, she has stopped celebrating them on their birthdays and wants them to reciprocate.
“The people you’re emulating, and looking at as an example, do you really want to know them? The people you call celebrities and follow on social media.
Not one actor went to those cinemas or even supported me, despite the fact that we’re all going through the same thing.
But if I celebrate my birthday, the next day, they’d wish me a happy birthday. So I stopped wishing people a happy birthday because I don’t want anyone to wish me one. Please don’t”.
Jaiye also lamented the financial burden of film production and cinema distribution, noting that many people don’t understand what it takes for producers to recover their investments.
