Veteran actor Chief Olalere Osunpaimo, widely known as Eda Onile Ola, has raised concerns about what he describes as an attempt to take over his life’s work.

During a press briefing, Osunpaimo accused certain individuals and a production company of trying to remake his legendary film Ogbori Elemoso without his approval.

The controversy reportedly began when the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, approached Osunpaimo with interest in recreating the historic movie, according to The Leadership.

The seasoned actor, whose home recently underwent renovations, said that during early discussions, he estimated the project would cost around ₦100 million. He added that the monarch had even expressed willingness to increase the budget and make adjustments to the script.

However, in October 2025, a man identified as Ben Ayoola, also known as Ben O Ben, along with representatives of Fewchore Studio, visited Osunpaimo’s home with unexpected claims.

“They told me I was not required to give consent to remake Ogbori Elemoso. They said their visit was just to present me with a ‘gift,’” Osunpaimo revealed.

He said that ₦7.5 million was later deposited into his bank account without prior discussion, a gesture his children opposed.

“My children felt it was a manipulation and urged me to reject it. Acting on their advice, I returned the money immediately,” he stated.

Osunpaimo added that his lawyer subsequently sent a cease-and-desist letter to the parties involved. Despite this, he claims the individuals persisted and even issued threats.

In response, Peter Olaleye, Public Relations Officer to the Soun of Ogbomoso, told The PUNCH: “This is essentially an internal matter. Baba (Eda Onile Ola) is a chief in Ogbomoso and was contacted when the story was about to be released. The production crew visited his home, but the story they are making is entirely new. The disagreement remains an in-house issue.”
