Controversial social media commentator, Verydarkman, has criticized participants of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow rally, claiming many joined the protest for attention rather than a genuine cause.
His comments followed the recent protest led by Sowore demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu, which saw the arrest of key figures, including Sowore, his lawyer, and Kanu’s brother. The arrests reportedly caused the movement to lose momentum.
In an Instagram live session, Verydarkman accused protesters of chasing trends instead of supporting the actual cause. He remarked:
“The protest quickly died down. As soon as Sowore was arrested, the crowd dispersed. Why? Because many people didn’t understand what they were protesting for. They were there to support Sowore for the hype, not the cause itself.”
He argued that the rapid decline in turnout demonstrates that much of the protest activity was driven by publicity rather than sincere activism.
Verydarkman also warned that the ongoing Nnamdi Kanu court proceedings might see a similar pattern if people continue to focus on online noise instead of taking meaningful action.
“Right now, it’s just Nnamdi Kanu in court, and this pattern could continue for years because people only make noise online without doing anything tangible,” he added.
He stressed that while protests can attract media attention, lasting change requires careful planning, awareness, and sustained effort.

“Nnamdi Kanu protest went down immediately they arrested Sowore because the people don’t even know what they’re f!ght!ng for. They went to support Sowore because of hype. It’s baffling Sowore got arrested and his people went home. You all are pieces of 💩”
