The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Lagos State on New Media, Jubril Gawat, has reacted to a viral video claiming Igbo traders were locked out of their shops in the Ijesha market on Monday, April 3.

A Nigerian man who recorded the video said the traders at Akorede market in the Ijesha area of the state were stranded.

‘’On enquiry, we were informed that the local government chairman ordered the locking of the market for no reason whatsoever and it is generally believed that this is a fall out of the just concluded election where some section of the country residing in Lagos were being ordered to leave Lagos or be frustrated out. Please, we want the authorities concerned to find out from the local government chairman his reason for locking traders out the market’

Reacting to the video, Gawat gave reasons the market was locked up and also stated that the market has since been reopened after appeals were made.
