A road accident along Katsina/ Batsari highway has claimed the lives of three persons while nine others also sustained varying degrees of injury in the accident.
Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred about 9pm on Friday along the highway around Bakiyawa.
It was learnt that the accident involved a Honda Accord car, a tricycle, and a motorcycle.
The driver of the car was alleged to be on full speed and attempted to overtake other vehicles when he ran into the tricycle and the motorcycle.
When contacted, the state Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps, Ali Tanimu, confirmed the accident.
He said the remains of the dead victims and the injured had been moved to the General hospital, Katsina.
Tanimu said, “Our preliminary investigation showed that the accident occurred as a result of wrongful overtaking. Three people died and nine others sustained injuries. The dead and the injured were moved to Katsina General hospital.”
