With United pushing for an equalizer, Tottenham keeper Guglielmo Vicario fumbled a free-kick, and Rasmus Højlund appeared to have a clear header into an open net. But Spurs defender Micky van de Ven intervened with a sensational acrobatic goal-line clearance in the 62nd minute to keep the lead intact.

After the final whistle, goal scorer Brennan Johnson summed up the emotional significance: “I’m so happy right now.
