Colombia captain, James Rodriguez’s contract with Rayo Vallecano has been terminated.

Rodriguez is now a free agent amid the ongoing January transfer window.

This was revealed by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a tweet via his X account on Monday.

“Confirmed: James Rodriguez is now available as free agent, contract terminated at Rayo Vallecano,” Romano tweeted.

Rodriguez only joined Rayo Vallecano last summer transfer window on a one-year deal with an option for further year as a free agent.

His contract with the Spanish La Liga club was supposed to expire in the summer of 2025.

NEWSUNPLUG reports that this is not the first time that Rodriguez’s contract has been terminated in his career as a professional footballer.

The attacking midfielder’s contract with Sao Paulo was terminated by mutual agreement in the past.

The 33-year-old has played for clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Monaco and Everton in the past.
