Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has advised the Blues against selling defender Levi Colwill this summer.

Nevin believes Chelsea needs Colwill, adding that the west London club are yet to replace Antonio Rudiger, who left Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid last year.

“I would be really surprised if Levi Colwill left Chelsea, though,” Nevin told OLBG.

“I think Chelsea really need him, as they never quite replaced Rudiger. He is still a young player, though, as centre-backs like him and Badiashile will not be fully ready until they are 24 or 25 years old.”

Colwill spent last season on loan at Brighton.

The 20-year-old was a stout presence in the defence for England against Spain during the U-21 Euro championship final.
