Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has told Chelsea that they need to sign a midfielder that can partner Enzo Fernandez in midfield.
Ferdinand believes the current Chelsea squad lacks balance, adding that the Blues do not have midfielders following the departure of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
Recall that Chelsea recently sold the likes of Kovacic, Kante, Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy.
“You look at Chelsea’s midfield – Jorginho went last season, Kante and Kovacic have gone, [Mason] Mount and Loftus-Cheek are on their way out,” Ferdinand told the FIVE YouTube channel.
“That is five midfielders, two or three of them start. There is no midfield at that club at the moment.
“They have got about eight or nine attacking players in the wide areas, but the squad lacks balance, they are crying out for some midfielders.
“It is going to be interesting to see where they go because they need someone alongside Enzo, who they spent £100m on,” he added.
