Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Operation Safe Haven have arrested two notorious gunrunners, Yahaya Adamu and Saeedu Haruna, during a recent operation in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspects were apprehended between May 10 and 11, 2025, during an intelligence-driven mission that led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and an ITEL phone.

Spokesman for Operation Safe Haven, Samson Zhakom, said in a statement on Sunday that the operation was based on actionable intelligence linking the suspects and their syndicate to multiple criminal acts in Plateau and neighboring Kaduna State.

Areas affected include Gashish and Kurra Falls in Plateau, as well as Gwantu and Fadan Karshe in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna.

According to Zhakom, Adamu was first arrested on May 10 in Barakin Gangare, Barkin Ladi, after which troops followed up to arrest Haruna and recover the firearm.

Both suspects are in custody and are said to be cooperating with ongoing investigations as security operatives intensify efforts to apprehend other members of the group.

The military commended the public for their support and urged citizens to continue providing credible intelligence to help dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of lives and property in the region.
