Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong has named four leaders in Eric Chelle’s side.
The former Watford defender spoke following Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying semi-final playoff 4-1 win against Gabon on Thursday.
Recall that goals from Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, and Victor Osimhen (2) gave Nigeria the victory against Gabon in Rabat, Morocco.
Mario Lemina’s goal was not enough for Gabon as the match ended in favour of the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles will now face DR Congo in the World Cup playoffs final on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters after Nigeria defeated Gabon, Troost-Ekong said (via Victor Modo) that the likes of Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi and Moses Simon are leaders in the Super Eagles.
“We have multiple leaders in this team. Victor Osimhen is a leader in his own right, and we also have Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and Moses Simon,” Troost-Ekong said.
“We have players who are really coming of age and showing what they can do.”
