A member of Fenerbahçe’s board, Hakan Safi, has claimed he was willing to pay whatever it took to bring Victor Osimhen to the club.

Safi tried to stop Osimhen from joining their rivals Galatasaray in the summer of 2025.

He insisted that the problem wasn’t money, but the rest of the board didn’t agree with his plan.

“I was going to finish the Osimhen transfer, I had the money ready, I was ready to pay.

“They didn’t tell me to go ahead,” Safi said, according to Buzz Spor.

In the end, Osimhen signed with Galatasaray on a permanent deal after playing on loan for the Istanbul club.

This season alone, the Nigerian forward has scored more than 30 goals in all competitions for the Yellow and Red.
