Two men, Sadiq Oladejo, 24 and Usman Abubakar, 20, have been dragged before an Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly breaking into a house where they stole some household items and other valuables worth N530,000.

The duo who were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and burglary, however, pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to them.

Police prosecutor, Simon Wada told the court that the defendants committed the offences with others at large on March 23, 2024, at about 4:30pm at No. 51, Plaza Motel Road, Akure.

Wada alleged that the defendants broke into the house of the complainant, Mrs Ibukun Fasakin, and stole the following items: two traditional cooking pots valued at N50,000, two stainless pots valued at 40,000, one stainless bowl valued at N25,000, a bag of four inches nails valued at N150,000, half a bag of my hinges valued at N45,000, half bundle of Zinc valued at N75,000 and other items all valued at N530,000.

The offences contravened Sections 413(2), 390(9), and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ondo, 2006.

Following their guilty pleas, the prosecutor prayed the court to convict the defendants accordingly.

The defence counsel, A. Adedire, urged the court to adjourn the case to enable the prosecution to prove his case.

The Magistrate, Kolawole A. Aro, adjourned the case till May 10, for review of the facts of the case and judgement.
